Contra Costa College Baseball has a winning tradition. Our teams always have a good nucleus of returning players, with the addition of some talented freshmen. We are looking to contend for the Bay Valley Conference Championship.

Mr. Albert (Bert) Strane brings a substantial background combining sports and business. A prep baseball star from Oakland California, Bert was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the first major league draft in 1965 subsequently by drafted by LA Dodgers in 1968. He rejected those initial professional offers and attended the University of Santa Clara where he received a full scholarship.
Bert excelled as a true student/athlete playing baseball for four years as well as graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Finance in 1969. After graduation from college he was again drafted by Major League Baseball and eventually signed with the Seattle Pilots.
Mr. Strane played in the minor leagues for two years before embarking on a professional career. This professional baseball experience resulted in life long personal relationships being established with people who are in sports in many facets of the game.
After leaving the game, Bert started his professional career as the District Sales and Service Marketing Manager for General Motors. He combined his understanding of finance and marketing into positions of increased levels of responsibility with organizations such as World Airways, Continental Savings and Bank of America. Mr. Strane’s growth has also resulted in him holding corporate officers positions as a Vice President with both Pacific West Financial and AirNet International.
Bert has also exhibited strong entrepreneurial strength having co-founded three businesses, International Sports Management, NuAir Express, and AirNet International. He also brings significant experience in national/international marketing. He has maintained close ties to baseball at both the grassroots and professional levels through scouting, coaching and advising both amateur and Major League talent. Many of the players who are now in managerial and professional positions are close associates with Mr. Strane in College, Minor, and Major League baseball. Dusty Baker, Tyson & Joey Ross, Jimmy Rollins, CC Sabathia, Dontrelle Willis, Larry Herndon and Bob Boone are close friends with Mr. Strane.
The technological revolution has not left Mr. Strane unprepared, as he is very proficient with the newest computers and appropriate software. He has held a Real Estate license in the State of California since 1979. Certifications in coaching advance baseball. The Ripken way for Babe Ruth Baseball coaches. USA Baseball Pure Certification, USA Baseball Pure certification basic first aid. Certified USPTA Coach.
Mr. Strane is married to the former Julie Shields and is the father of five children. He actively gives his time to many youth organizations through his volunteer work.
